Out of the blue, my inbox emptied and the messages were nowhere to be found. My email provider took a few days but recovered them from the servers, but shortly after it happened again. Their tech team said it was an erroneous message from Thunderbird (one of several apps that caused this, they said, not targetting Mozilla specifically). They suggested I switch to Outlook, which I have done but I miss Thunderbird, it's so much better. Any way I can return but guard against these raids? If you are kind enough to advise me, please be aware I am very non tech.....

This is an annoyance rather than an issue.

I run Thunderbird as my email and I archive old mail to local folders, which I want to sync to Dropbox.

This works fine, and I have a suitable set of .MSF files (over 100, 000) synced to Dropbox.

BUT. Every now and then (not sure how often, I see dropbox is syncing ALL my thunderbird files, even if they have not been changed.

Can anyone explain how Dropbox determines when to sync?

Is it possible that for some reason Thunderbird does something to the files (for no apparent reason)?

I have also asked the Dropbox forum what is the trigger for a file to be updated in Dropbox.

I am really really distraught right now. It took me two weeks to get the time and focus to write a long reply to a company's nice email to me. Stayed up till 2am to write it. Deliberately wanted to re-read it in the morning before sending. Gone. Nowhere to be found. I pressed "Save to draft" before closing my laptop. But not saved. This account actually has a "draft" folder, unlike most of my other accounts in Thunderbird, which I also cannot figure out and no one has helped me with.

Migrating my TBird account from a W10 machine to a W11 machine. Followed the process in the help section. The W11 box has my 4 Gmail accounts and my address book. No local folders showing on W11. If I look in my profile -mail- Local Folders in File Explorer they are all there - just not showing when I open TBird.

The W10 version is 140.3.0esr and says it is up to date. The W11 version is 143.0 and says it is up to date.

Reinstalling TBird made no difference. Looking for suggestions so I can turn off the W10 box. - Thanks Marty

I save all my mail, I sell stock and need it. As of late, when I copy something over, the main file becomes corrupt, and it starts spawning new empty directories like the ones I have below, I have 5 versions of this,

it seems to happen when I change the directory name when there is already a set of emails inside. And if I change it, suddenly it starts multiplying itself every time I look at it. And I can't see any of the mail inside.

There is no way to fix this, fix folder does nothing. It took me 2 hours to fix one and I had to ask the client to send me the latest email chain that had the back and forth. That was the only fix I found. I sent this in to bugs I think but got no response.

My email with Comcast stopped working. I managed to re-configure it on my old computer, but the new one I am trying to set up says: Configuration found in Mozilla ISPDB , then when I hit the continue button I then get "Authentication error. Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password".

I am signed into my Comcast account for email. My gmail is perfect.

How do I fix this? I have deleted the account a few times and started over.

Please, can someone help?

Hi out there, After having stated earlier today a question on missing local folders, I have found that the profile folder still contain at least som of the missing mails. I have used the search facility (top of the screen) with a keyword "Kregme". The result is more than 200 hits of which I recognize severel mails are from the missing folders. This fact indicates that problem is that the folders are not shown and not that the emails are missing. I am still very interested in a solution on how to have the mising local folders shown so they can be accessed. Jens Kirk

a couple of days ago a large number of my local folders were not shown on the screen. The first say 15-20 local folders were shown as usual, but a larger number of folders are not shown. Can a limit for the disc space be reached? Where can it be changed? I use Bitdefender as security package. Windows 11 is used on the pc. I have removed Thunderbird from my computer and reinstalled the program. This has not lead to a chande. The missing local folders are not shown. Next I have removed Thunderbird from the computer. I have replaced the profile folder in the roaming folder with a back up folder. Having reinstalled Thunderbird I can see some files from the backup but not the missing local folders. Thunderbird oon my computer can recieve new e-mails. I hope that somebody out there can help me getting my missing local folders back.

Geek Squad agents were trying to figure out how to add another signature in Thunderbird, and ended up 'disappearing' more than half of my local folders (no idea why they were playing around with folders in the first place). They found them (didn't leave me information about where they were, but some kind of data), but don't know how to move them back into the proper position.

Bonjour J'ai 2 questions à vous poser concernant ma messagerie de Thunderbird. Je reçois depuis une quinzaine de jours très peu d'Emails. Il semble que le chargement ne se fasse plus normalement dans ma boîte de réception. Dois-je autoriser les demandes d'autorisation de modification du disque dur que vous me transmettez de temps en temps ? Merci de traduire en anglais cet Email que je ne pris écrire en cette langue.
