Firefox add-on badges help you quickly identify which extensions are trusted, reviewed or developed by Mozilla. This guide explains what each badge means, shows you where to find them, and gives you tips on how to safely use add-ons.

Badges and what they mean

These extensions are carefully selected by Mozilla staff and community members for:

  • Strong security
  • Reliable functionality
  • High-quality user experience

Each one is manually reviewed for policy compliance. Developers can’t pay to be part of this program. Recommended extensions may be featured on addons.mozilla.org (AMO).

Extensions by Firefox

These are made by Mozilla to deliver new features or fun extras for Firefox. They are reviewed for security and policy compliance.

Caution label

Extensions not regularly reviewed by Mozilla staff will display a caution message on AMO. This doesn’t always mean the add-on is unsafe, but you should check the developer's reputation, user reviews and requested permissions.
